2023 NCU Fantasy Football | Week 8 Picks
The Algorithm @ Fighting Minnow
All of the sudden, Chris' team has some juice. Hockenson and Addison get upgrades now that the Vikings apparently have figured out how to play offense without JJ. Jahmyr Gibbs may go back to splitting touches with Montgomery, but I don't think he'll slot back into less than a 50% share of touches... looks to me like Matt may have a legitimate struggle on his hands this week. St. Brown and Ekeler should produce some big numbers, but it will be up to a recovering Raheem Mostert to put the Minnow over the top. I don't think he can do it against what looks to be a rejuvenated New England defense. The Algorithm gains momentum, winning 93 - 92. — Jamaal Gilbert
The Numbers @ Jabad's Sheep
In other years, this has been a marquee matchup. This year, it's just kind of sad. Lance is praying D'Onta Foreman is about to BLOW UP, and that Nico Collins will be able to sustain his rise to relevance. Jabad is sitting at an absolutely ridiculous 0-7, but sends a pair of healthy(ish) RB1 types into this matchup, along with Jaylen Waddle and Chris Godwin. I've picked him two weeks in row to no avail, but I think the third time will be the charm. Sheep crunch the Numbers, 88 - 84. — Jamaal Gilbert
Clear Eyes Full Hearts @ We Are Terrible
Drew's secret weapon Brock Purdy just pulled up lame while I love Nate's QB matchup with Russell Wilson forced to try and keep up with the Chiefs' offense. Passing will a major part of that game script. Injuries have just devastated poor Clear Eyes with Purdy, Anthony Richardson, Mike Williams, Deebo Samuels all out... and I don't see him overcoming that this week. Nate, 81-65. — Matt Hurm
Madison's Finest @ Hurts Locker
Couple things about this game: 1) Jamaal's best players are all on the road this week and 2) Caleb has a pair of top 10 RBs in his stable. The result of these facts are that Caleb will win 89-79. — Matt Hurm
Figment's Fart @ Garbage
Jake's Garbage have quietly outscored Fighting Minnow so far this season, and he'll need a win against Dillon's squad to keep pace in the division. Figment's only hope was Zack Moss continuing to put up monster numbers alongside Patrick Mahomes, but Jonathan Taylor is back and seriously denting the touch-share in that backfield. Finney, on the other hand, has a healthy, productive lineup set for this week. Garbage clean up, 98 - 75. — Jamaal Gilbert
Serenity Now! @ Joseph Addai
Don't look now, but Lidds is 5-2 with one of the top three records in the league. He might just break his nine year playoff-less drought. His RBs have nice matchups. Paul, in the other hand, he traded away much of his talent and is planning for 2024. The team that wants to win, will win, and that's Ryan, 102-85. — Matt Hurm
Country Bear Jamboroo @ Laces Out
All Mahomies @ Trojan Horses
Nick is coming off a huge win while Troy is coming off a disappointing loss. Those facts are true. Nevertheless, Troy has the superior talent at every position but running back. That gives him the edge and makes Troy my pick, 92-78. — Matt Hurm
See you next Thursday!
