2023 NCU Fantasy Football | Week 9 Picks
When Kirk Cousins went down at Lambeau last week, Vikings fans around the world went into collective shock. All of the momentum that was generated by the winning streak seemed to dissipate in an instant. But then, after enduring the prospect of overwhelmed rookie Jaren Hall as rest-of-season starter, Josh Dobbs entered the room. He may not be a heralded starter, but he could be just enough to guide Minnesota to a playoff berth.

This week, we've got a nice slate of games — we're into the second round of all-important division contests, where tiebreakers are won and lost. Good luck to all, except Drew, who I'm pretty sure lost his login to the fantasy website. Ridiculous! In other news, I pulled out of the nosedive and put up a 3-1 record on picks in Week 8, while Matt continued to struggle (1-3 last week). Hoping for better things in Week 9!
Enjoy this week's picks!

Hurts Locker @ We Are Terrible
At 3-5, Caleb's terrible record belies the danger of his roster. Jalen Hurts is a formidable QB, and guys like Alvin Kamara and Kenneth Walker create a solid 50-point foundation to pretty much any week. Gotta think that Puka and Co. should be able to dispatch Nathan's We Are Terrible ... I mean, they're starting Tyler Bagent, who has amassed 29 points in three outings so far this season. Caleb puts the hurt on 'em, winning 90-77. — Jamaal Gilbert
Garbage @ Fighting Minnow
Huge game in the Gerby Division. Hurm owns the tiebreaker due to a Week 2 victory, but all of the peripheral stats point the other directions. Jake's squad has scored more points, and has more points against. The robots say Matt's Minnow will win a close fight, but I like the guy who isn't starting Tyler Heinecke to pull out a victory (though, kudos to Matt for securing a QB when his start AND backup were on bye/injured). Minnows get hooked... Jake wins, 93 - 86. — Jamaal Gilbert
All Mahomies @ Country Bear Jamboroo
Solberg has sold his best players and since that happened has gone on a winning streak. Were Patrick Mahomes and Stefon Diggs toxic players? He puts that to the test with new rookie QB Will Levis against an inconsistent Bears team. With Tee Higgins and Darrell Henderson primed for big games, I am taking Amy 92-83. — Matt Hurm
Laces Out @ Trojan Horses
Serenity Now! @ The Numbers
I am picking numbers for two reasons: 1) I like Lance's Texans matchup against the Bucaneers more than I like Paul's Cowboy's matchup against the Eagles and 2) D'Onta Foreman is far more likely to be helpful against the Saints than Justice Hill against Seattle. Lance 85-81. — Matt Hurm
Figment's Fart @ The Algorithm
Chris Rauch has screwed up. His QB is on by this week and he wasn't proactive in finding a replacement. He will be stuck with something called Clayton Tune or PJ Walker. DJ's team is awful, but he has Mahomes against the Dolphins and won't be forced to start Jeff Wilson at RB. DJ is outcoaching Chris this week. DJ 69-67. — Matt Hurm
Jabad's Sheep @ Joseph Addai
Congrats to Jake on picking up his first win of the year with a squad that should be at least .500. Crazy to me that he's had that bad of luck, though banking on Saquon is always a risky proposition. There's reason to believe that Jake could really give Joseph Addai a run for their money with Christian McCaffrey on BYE and Baltimore facing a ball-control offens. Lidds still has some work to do on his lineup this week, but I'm certain he'll lock it down before Sunday. Even still, I like Jabad's Sheep to ride herd over Ryan, winning 87 - 85. — Jamaal Gilbert
Madison's Finest @ Clear Eyes Full Hearts
Drew started a kicker who was teamless last week. He was cut on Tuesday. He had 5 days to notice the issue and resolve it. He didn't. His team had a real chance to upset Nate Peterson and rise to 4-4, but lost by 3 because he didn't have a kicker. AWFUL. Drew has his QB on bye and I have no confidence he will pick up a replacement. Jamaal is a well-respected owner who has hustled and moved to patch together a decent squad. Jamaal 82-60. — Matt Hurm
See you next week!
